PRESS RELEASE: Recently, many citizens and tourists came to Chengdu USUNHOME Theater to experience the world’s first 5G-A VR immersive theater application called “Jimmy Picture Book Metaverse Drama – My World is All You”.
This project is based on the classic picture book metaverse drama adaptation of Jimmy, carefully crafted by USUNHOME Group, and partnered with ZTE, China Electronic Cloud, and China Telecom Sichuan to adopt the 5G-A ultra-dense XR concurrent exclusive solution, completing the world’s first commercial 5G-A VR large space metaverse drama. This innovative solution not only achieves a highly immersive experience under lightweight equipment, but also brings warm spiritual journeys to the audience.
For VR large space immersive theater application, ZTE adopts 5G-A ultra dense XR concurrency combined with its self-developed metaverse platform XRExplore exclusive solution. By providing high-speed, low latency 5G-A indoor network coverage and intelligent XR business support, it solves many pain points in traditional VR experiences.
This solution flexibly schedules the rendering resources required by the application through the ZTE XRExplore platform, carries business data on the 5G-A network, and utilizes the high-speed and low latency characteristics of the 5G-A network to build a 5G-A streamlined private network. By relying on lightweight indoor distributed micro stations, coupled with the base station level computing engine NodeEngine and SuperMicell’s intelligent beam management solution, the solution enhances business coverage, meets the mobility needs of XR applications, and ensures the certainty of a large amount of VR business data concurrency.
This overcomes the pain points of heavy backpacks, poor heat dissipation, and short battery life of local backpack rendering solutions. In addition, by ensuring intelligent scheduling and optimization strategies at the time slot level through 5G-A XR services, combined with ZTE XRExplore platform for online media integration, end-to-end stability and reliability of XR services are guaranteed, with an average air interface latency of less than 15ms. High image quality at 4K @ 90 fps during gaming is achieved, which solves the problems of image quality degradation, lag, and limited concurrency caused by Wi-Fi streaming VR headsets due to computing power limitations in all-in-one headsets, greatly limiting the profitability of operators. This solution can support more than 50 people to freely move and explore in a shared virtual scene, providing new possibilities for the future development of VR large space experiences.
With the continuous evolution of CPU/GPU, edge computing, terminal hardware, etc., large-scale VR experiences is ushering in unprecedented development opportunities. ZTE will continue to work with industry partners to deepen research and practical implementation, promote 5G-A+XR online media integration to empower innovative business applications, and provide strong support and guarantee for the future development of immersive cultural tourism through comprehensive and multi business model technology matching.
