The Financial Times reports that three of Italy’s largest telecoms operators – Vodafone, Wind and Fastweb – on Friday announced a joint EUR2.5 billion investment in a superfast fixed broadband network to serve 15 cities. The companies have invited both rival Telecom Italia, the former fixed-line monopoly operator, and the Italian government to participate in the build-out of the optical fibre network project over the next five years.
