eSIM has taken a long time to gain traction among enterprises but, with the introduction of SGP.32, we’re entering the era of sophisticated use cases for eSIM. These range from critical applications that utilise eSIM to increase resilience to specific offerings that rely on the secure attributes of eSIM. Growth has been held back because there hasn’t been a clear reason to commit to eSIM outside of these discrete application categories but, with the maturing of systems that support eSIM from remote SIM provisioning to in-factory profile provisioning, eSIM is finally poised to make connectivity easy for enterprises.
It’s never simple to reduce complexity but the market has needed to be educated about the benefits of eSIM to encourage adoption beyond the tip of the spear that high-end critical communication use cases present.
This discussion will assess how eSIM is gaining mainstream traction in enterprise deployments as barriers to adoption have been lowered, standards have crystallised and simpler eSIM offerings are introduced. Mobile network operators are engaging more in selling eSIMs and increasingly recognise there is revenue to be generated from a raft of use cases and appetite for eSIM has grown.
