UK telecoms watchdog Ofcom set out proposals to ensure that digital television and “next generation” mobile services can co-exist, following the auction of 800MHz spectrum suitable for LTE services next year. It said that due to the proximity of the bands used, “up to 3 percent” of digital viewers could be affected unless measures are put in place to address the problem – and that “the majority of the costs should be borne by future 800MHz licensees.” It is seeking input into a consultation process, which runs until 11 August 2011.
