TeleGeography reports that Vodafone Essar has raised a debt of approximately INR100 billion (US$2.02 billion) from the State Bank of India; the loan will be spread over a five-year period. It is expected that the money will primarily be used to help fund network expansion plans. It is also understood that a part of the loan could be used to bid for 3G licenses when the auction details are finally confirmed.
