O2 UK says it has become “the first network provider to offer large-scale location-based mobile marketing in the UK,” enabling brands to deliver targeted SMS and MMS campaigns to consumers. The first brands involved in a six month trial are Starbucks and L’Oreal, and in addition to location, customers can be profiled by age, gender and stated interests.
