Reuters reports that Israeli cable TV company HOT is to buy mobile operator Mirs for US$378 million, in order to compete with its rivals by offering a broader range of services. Mirs is currently the smallest operator in the country by some way, behind larger rivals Cellcom, Partner Communications (Orange) and Pelephone (Bezeq). Mirs was awarded a 3G licence in April 2011.
