Golan Telecom is set to become Israel’s fifth mobile operator, having paid its ILS360 million (US$106 million) deposit, with the operator being controlled by the founders of French operator Illiad. Globes said that two other operators, 018 Xfone and Select Communications, had previously been assigned this licence, but in both cases the companies were unable to secure the necessary funding.
