Canadian operator BCE (owner of Bell Mobility) said its third-quarter profit more than doubled and rose above the half-billion mark on the favourable resolution of past tax positions, lower restructuring costs and fewer outstanding common shares. The company reported net income applicable to common shares of CAD558 million (US$533 million), up from a profit of CAD248 million last year.
