Asian telecoms group Axiata announced a 20.5 percent increase in net income for 2010 to MYR2.12 billion (US$690 million), on revenue up 17.3 percent to MYR13.3 billion. Its group subscriber base expanded to 160 million, up 33 percent year-on-year, “making the group one of the largest telcos in the region.” It also confirmed an anticipated MYR1 billion impairment charge related to Idea Cellular, it Indian business.
