App tools company Appcelerator launched its Mobile Developer Challenge, to encourage developers to make greater use of its cloud services. The company will award developers more than US$30,000 in cash and prizes, with a bonus of US$5,000 for the most innovative use of the technology. Appcelerator’s 350,000 strong developer community can add push notifications, photo sharing, check-ins, status post and chat into their apps, using the cloud technology. The winners will be announced at Appcelerator’s Codestong 2012 event in San Francisco in October.
