Dow Jones Newswires reports that a Federal Communications Commission task force announced plans Friday to “unleash” a swath of airwaves through a proposal to revamp US wireless broadband regulations. If implemented, the task force proposal to retool rules involving 90 megahertz of bands could put the commission closer toward its goal of making 300 megahertz available in five years, and 500 megahertz by 2020. The commission hopes to “increase value, utilisation and investment in mobile satellite service bands.”
