The head of Google’s Android app and content store Google Play (formerly Android Market) has stepped down from the role, reports TechCrunch.
Eric Chu is understood to be pursuing other opportunities within Google, while director of digital content for Android, Jamie Rosenberg, will assume an expanded role encompassing apps and games in the store.
The change of name from Android Market to Google Play comes following the web giant's addition of music, games and movies to the store.
The change in emphasis with Google Play may explain the management reshuffle.
With Chu heading up developer relations and business development and David Conway leading product management, a TechCrunch source add this it has sometimes been unclear which of the two led the decision making.
