Meta Platforms named three new directors to its board, continuing its leadership overhaul ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Among the trio elected is Dana White, president and CEO of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), who is a longtime ally of Trump and one of his most high-profile campaigners. White notably endorsed his candidacy at the Republican National Convention in July as well at conventions in 2016 and 2020.
Joining White will be John Elkann, CEO of European investment company Exor and Charlie Songhurst, a former Microsoft executive who served on Meta’s AI advisory group last year.
In a statement, Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg touted his support for the new appointees: “Dana, John and Charlie will add a depth of expertise and perspective that will help us tackle the massive opportunities ahead with AI, wearables and the future of human connection.”
The elections come as Meta Platforms positions itself for a second Trump presidency ahead of the 20 January swearing in ceremony.
Last week, the tech giant replaced its president of global affairs, Nick Clegg, with prominent Republican figure Joel Kaplan. Meanwhile, Zuckerberg is amongst a swathe of tech heavyweights who underscored their support for Trump, contributing $1 million to the President-elect’s inauguration fund.
