Telenor has appointed Lars-Åke Norling (pictured, above), currently the CEO of Digi.Com in Malaysia, as CEO of dtac in Thailand. Meanwhile Digi’s COO, Albern Murty, has been promoted to CEO.
Sigve Brekke, who stepped in as interim CEO of dtac in September, will return to focusing on his role as head of Asia for the group, Telenor said in a statement. He will continue to serve as vice chairman on dtac’s board.
The appointments are effective 1 April.
Norling joined Digi as CEO last August. Prior to joining Digi, he was CEO in Telenor Sweden from 2009 to 2014 and served as its CTO from 2007 to 2009.
Murty (pictured, left) has spent the last 13 years in a variety of senior executive roles in Digi. In January 2014 he was named the company’s COO after serving as chief marketing officer for a number of years. Before Digi, his previous experience included business and commercial management roles at Lucent across the Asian region.
