LG Electronics continued its annual process of announcing products in the run-up to Mobile World Congress, stating it will unveil “its first all-metal luxury Android Wear device, LG Watch Urbane,” at the event.

The company said that it is “designed for a sophisticated and cosmopolitan wearer that delivers unparalleled technology and performance”. It features the same 1.3-inch round plastic OLED display used in the vendor’s G Watch R, but with a narrower bezel that gives it “sleeker lines”.

The vendor’s other watches are “designed as more casual and active devices”, Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics’ mobile unit, said.

“LG Watch Urbane is an important part of our strategy to develop wearable devices that are worn and viewed as everyday accessories, not electronic gadgets,” the executive continued.

The device is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, and includes a photoplethysmography sensor that can measure a wearer’s heart rate. It works with smartphones running Android 4.3 or later.

Additional details, including price, will be announced at the time of availability. Gold and silver versions will be available.
