Vodafone Group said that Andy Halford, its CFO (pictured), is to leave next year, sparking a reshuffle among senior executives at the company.

Halford will depart in March 2014, after the conclusion of Vodafone’s deal with Verizon Communications – he was CFO of Verizon Wireless prior to taking up the Vodafone Group role. In a statement, the executive said that “next year will be the right time for me to move on and seek the next challenge in my career”.

As of 1 January 2014, Nick Read will become CFO-designate, stepping up from his position as head of Vodafone’s Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific (AMAP) region. He has also been CFO and chief executive of Vodafone UK.

Replacing him as chief executive of Vodafone AMAP will be Serpil Timuray, chief executive of Vodafone Turkey and a member of the Vodacom Group board. She will be replaced in Turkey by Gokhan Ogut, the unit’s current Chief Commercial and Operations Officer.

Vittorio Colao, chief executive of Vodafone Group, said: “Over the last five years, Nick has led the AMAP region through a period of rapid growth, increasing revenues and profits in our major emerging markets businesses. He is a highly experienced contributor to the Group’s long-term strategy, and I look forward to working with him in his new role.”

“Nick will be ably succeeded by Serpil, one of Vodafone’s most accomplished senior leaders with a strong commercial and operational track record in a key growth market,” Colao continued.
