Vodafone is to spread a new tariff plan across its European markets, with the promise of further new pricing ideas before the end of 2013.

The Vodafone Red package offers consumers and businesses an integrated service plan with unlimited calls and text messages to any network in a subscriber’s home country, as well as a “very generous” mobile data allowance.

The new tariff is backed by the operator’s largest multi-country marketing campaign for five years.

The package is intended to dissuade subscribers using services such as Skype, WhatsApp, and Viber for messaging, according to Reuters.

Vodafone said it will add further pricing initiatives before the end of this year, including multi-device packages that enable customers to connect a number of devices under a single plan.

Also in the works are family plans, where several members of the same family sign up to a Vodafone Red package at a discounted price.

Another idea is to offer a discount to subscribers willing to buy a “nearly new” smartphone. Alternatively, subscribers can pay an additional fee to receive a new device every year.

Roaming packages priced at around €3 per day for calls, texts and data, and pitched as “worry-free”, are also promised. As are cloud-based back-up services and device insurance, for a small monthly fee.
