The European Union said that from today mobile operators are “obliged to lower retail prices for roaming calls,” in line with regulations introduced in 2007 and amended in 2009. Customers opting for an EU-regulated “Eurotariff” will pay “no more than EUR0.35 per minute for calls made and EUR0.11 per minute for calls received” when roaming. This is the last mandated cut under the current EU roaming regulation, which expires at the end of June 2012.
