Reuters notes that Samsung Electronics today unveiled the world’s first mobile phone with a 12-megapixel camera, a higher resolution than most digital cameras. Samsung’s new Pixon12 model will go on sale in Europe later this month, a blow to struggling rival Sony Ericsson, which has been touting a 12-megapixel model since February but will not launch it until fourth-quarter.
