Cellular News reports that Deutsche Telekom’s net profit in the third quarter rose €600 million to around €900 million (US$1.16 billion) compared with the same period last year. The jump was mainly due to a large write down of €700 million a year ago due to changes in German taxation. Net profit adjusted for special factors increased by 12 percent to around €1.2 billion (US$1.55 billion). Its Mobile Communications division (T-Mobile) remained the company’s main revenue driver, with around 1.2 million new contract customers being added in the third quarter alone. Overall, T-Mobile’s operations in the US and Central and Eastern Europe achieved double-digit growth rates, both in terms of revenue as well as EBITDA.
