Since 2019, China Telecom, together with Today International and Huawei, has continuously explored the combination of 5G and in – factory warehousing and logistics, developed multiple 5G + intelligent logistics solutions, realized multiple scenarios such as digital – twin management and control system + 5G, industrial Internet + 5G, and widely verified the technical feasibility of 5G deterministic network.

During the process of innovative exploration, China Telecom has created four core “weapons” to achieve a 5G deterministic industrial control network that natively carries industrial protocols:
Weapon 1: The user plane UPF of the 5G core network is sunk to achieve deterministic forwarding, reducing the transmission latency by 20 ms;
Weapon 2: Uplink pre – scheduling of the air interface further reduces the latency by 20 ms, stably controlling the end – to – end one – way latency within 8 ms;
Weapon 3: Dual – transmission and selective – reception combining the terminal and UPF to ensure the accurate transmission of information with a reliability as high as 99.99%;
Weapon 4: 5G LAN networking realizes layer – 2 forwarding and natively carries industrial protocols.

These four weapons have achieved remarkable “results”: the average end – to – end latency is 4 milliseconds, the maximum latency is 8 milliseconds, and the reliability reaches 99.99%.

5G industrial control has turned from an idea into a reality. In the joint laboratory of Today International, the whole – process control of in – factory warehousing and logistics has been achieved, with the inventory cost reduced by 94.2% and the inventory efficiency increased by 4.7 times.

In the production – auxiliary scenario, China Telecom has created a cloud – based warehousing and logistics control system through the 5G deterministic network to conduct the whole – life – cycle control of materials, realizing intelligent inventory, data collection and intelligent quality inspection, and greatly improving the accuracy of quality inspection.

Telecom 5G operation and maintenance promotes the in – depth integration of IT, OT and CT. Innovation has brought practical effects, reducing the failure rate by 60%, the duration of fault handling by 80%, and the customer complaint rate by 50%, deployed the digital – twin control system and the 5G end – to – end operation and maintenance system onto the MEC, realizing the active monitoring of logistics equipment and 5G network, increasing the data collection coverage rate by 80% and reducing the operation and maintenance cost by 94.2%.

Actual combat has found that China Telecom’s 5G deterministic industrial network has further enhanced the connection capability of the warehousing and logistics system. The 5G unified network has lower deployment difficulty and operation – maintenance cost. The speed and efficiency of finished product outbound have been greatly increased, the accuracy rate of quality inspection has been increased by 80%, and the cost of quality inspection has been reduced by 50%.

Boost the upgrading of the industrial chain and help the industry to be autonomous and controllable

China Telecom’s 5G deterministic network is becoming a prairie fire of innovation. The deep – connection scheme of warehousing and logistics based on this network has been deeply integrated into many key products such as stackers and AGVs. While meeting business requirements, 5G RedCap has been introduced to greatly reduce the cost and power consumption of 5G terminal modules, accelerate the construction of 5G fully – connected factories, and facilitate the large – scale application and development of the 5G intelligent logistics industry.
