PRESS RELEASE: China Mobile, in collaboration with its partner ZTE Corporation, a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, has recently achieved a significant milestone in the telecommunications industry. China Mobile’s Quality on Demand (QoD) API, has successfully passed 63 technical tests conducted by the Open Gateway working group. This achievement marks the official launch of GSMA Open Gateway/CAMARA standard API capabilities on the world-leading mobile network Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) platform.
The QoD API provides applications with stable service quality assurance, allowing developers to select predefined Quality of Service (QoS) configurations based on their applications’ latency and throughput requirements. This capability is based on ZTE’s NEF/SCEF capability exposure function elements and China Mobile’s 4G/5G core network differentiated policy control and capability exposure. It offers differentiated network quality assurance services for bandwidth, latency, jitter, and bit error rate to target users, significantly enhancing user mobile internet experience.
The QoS acceleration capability has been widely adopted in scenarios such as mobile gaming and mobile payments. It has gained impressive market traction, with 25 formal customers signed up, including Alibaba Cloud Computing(Beijing) Co.,Ltd, XunYou, OPPO, HuanTai, Agile Cloud, and ByteDance. Monthly API calls have reached 33.074 million, and the cumulative revenue since launch has hit the tens of millions of yuan. This capability is also empowering China Mobile’s own public cloud services like CMCC Cloud Drive and Migu Video. In congested scenarios, CMCC Cloud Drive users have experienced a 43% increase in average download speed and a 22% increase in average upload speed.
China Mobile joined the GSMA Open Gateway initiative in June 2023 and has been actively participating in various working groups and the CAMARA open-source community. The company is leading the development of the Click to Dial API and the 5G New Calling API, both of which have been successfully established in Open Gateway Drop4. China Mobile has implemented multiple distinctive capabilities including 5G New Calling, click-to-dial, and Quality on Demand (QoD), and is accelerating the opening of large model capabilities in networks and customer service.
Moving forward, China Mobile, along with ZTE and industry partners worldwide, is committed to furthering the development of the Open Gateway concept and strengthening capability-sharing platforms to promote cross-regional, cross-industry, and cross-system integration of next-generation information technology capabilities.
