China Mobile is to use China's homegrown 3G mobile technology TD-SCDMA to help it compete with rivals China Unicom and China Telecom in the fixed broadband market that targets homes and small offices, reports Interfax-China.

China's ZTE has blamed the actions of a single employee for a breach of Telenor's code of conduct that has seen the Chinese firm banned from taking part in any Telenor tenders for six months.

Singapore operator M1 has reported that its pre-tax profit  for the nine months ended September 30 2008 declined 6.9 percent to S$139.9 million (US$94.5 million).

Interfax-China notes that China Mobile recorded 260,000 TD-SCDMA users at the end of September and additional frequencies for the technology have now been allocated.

Sony Ericsson has confirmed speculation it is to cut its handset portfolio following its first quarterly net loss in more than five years, reported Friday.

Cellular News reports that China Mobile Ltd., the listed subsidiary of China Mobile Corp, has reported a 26 percent jump in third quarter earnings, to CNY 27.74 billion (US$4.06 billion), versus CNY 21.97 billion (US$3.2 billion) a year earlier.

EFYTimes reports that ZTE has upped investment in LTE technology, hiring some 900 R&D staff for TD-LTE alone.
