South Korean operator KT said its third-quarter net profit grew 80 percent, but operating profit dropped 12 percent from a year earlier on higher marketing expenses, reports the Wall Street Journal. Net profit rose to KRW351.4 billion (US$296.2 million) in the quarter, up from a revised KRW195.3 billion a year earlier, on narrower foreign-exchange losses following a drop in the dollar against the local currency. However, KT said its operating profit dropped to KRW413.1 billion from a revised KRW467.8 billion due to higher marketing expenses. Sales rose 3.9 percent to KRW4.821 trillion from a revised KRW4.642 trillion.
