Philippines operator Globe said it has become “the first carrier in the Philippines to launch the commercial roll out of 4G mobile technology,” although it is using the term “4G” to describe an HSPA+ network which is being deployed alongside its existing WiMAX infrastructure. To date, its network covers the Metro Manila area, and by the end of the year it expects to have increased its 4G presence “dramatically.”
