China Telecom is mulling “cooperating with Taiwanese telecommunications operators to launch applications for mobile phones and may purchase Code Division Multiple Access-based smartphones from Taiwanese handset vendors,” Dow Jones Newswires reports. It said that Wang Xiaochu, Chairman of the operator, is set to meet representatives from device makers HTC and Compal Communications to discuss handsets, and from operators Chunghwa Telecom, Far EasTone, Taiwan Mobile, Vibo and Asia Pacific Telecom to discuss a “possible content service cooperation.”
