An investigation into the working practices of Apple final assembly supplier Foxconn by the Fair Labor Association (FLA) has unearthed “significant issues” with working conditions, including excessive overtime, health and safety risks and communication gaps that have led to “a widespread sense of unsafe working conditions among workers”. The FLA has secured commitments to reduce working hours to legal limits as well as protect pay and improve health and safety conditions. Apple requested the FLA to conduct special voluntary audits of its final assembly suppliers in February.
