Research firm Canalys says that Apple has taken the lead in the US smartphone market with a 26% share, displacing former leader RIM, although Nokia retained its leadership globally, accounting for 33% of shipments. Worldwide, Android now accounts for 25% of the market, thanks to volume devices from Samsung, HTC, Motorola and Sony Ericsson, with it also being the clear leader in the US – with a 44 percent share.
