Senior executives from T-Mobile, Google and HTC officially launched the 'G1' - the first device based on Google's Android mobile operating system - at an event in New York earlier today.

Telecompaper notes that UK-based European mobile broadband provider The Cloud has closed a €15 million funding round from current investors (€7.25 million), a new Norwegian investor Ferd Venture (€7.5 million) and GP Bullhound (€0.3 million).

The Times reports that Vodafone will today launch a service bringing audio books to mobile phones. The operator has reportedly signed a deal with GoSpoken.com to offer its customers download access to books that will cost between £5 and £15.
