Philippine number one operator PLDT has agreed to hand back some of the 3G spectrum it holds in order to win regulatory approval for its proposed acquisition of number three operator Digitel, reports the Manila Times. PLDT currently holds 25Mhz of spectrum via two subsidiaries and the acquisition of Digitel would add another 10Mhz. A source said PLDT offered to return 10Mhz of spectrum in the lower frequency band owned by one of its Connectivity Unlimited Resources Enterprises subsidiary, which could then be resold to other operators.
