China Mobile’s chairman and CEO, Wang Jianzhou, believes that the emerging embedded mobile market is helping to create what he calls ‘the Internet of things.’ Currently in its early stages but tipped to become a major new industry sector, the embedded mobile market aims to bring the benefits of continuous mobile connectivity to devices in the clean energy, education, healthcare, transport, consumer electronics and smart utilities sectors. In an exclusive interview with Mobile Business Briefing and Mobile World Live, Chairman Wang declared that “if the Internet is the system for communication between people and people, the Internet of things is a new system for communication between people and things, and things and things.” China Mobile’s head man noted that the embedded mobile market will mean the industry “can give [all] things intelligence.”
Chairman Wang outlined how RFID, 2D barcodes and GPS technology can help in obtaining information from “devices, machines and even animals.” He also described how China Mobile is using cloud computing technology “to process all the information from things and give intelligence to all things.”
